poetry night and art exhibition

img_01901can a local church be a vital part of the cultural life of the city?

should a local church be shaping the culture by providing a space for local artists, poets and musicians to exhibit their art and to meet with those who are interested in art?

i believe it can and it should.

last night, jan. 24th, at the tomy christian fellowship over 140 people participated in the poetry night of one of the most successful tomaszow poets, krzysztof kleszcz. he won a number of poetry competitions in the lodz region and just published his first book. another young artist, marzena lukaszuk, illustrated it with a series of her paintings. both could be met and asked questions last night at tomy.

the paintings will be exhibited to the tomaszow public till february 8th, 2009.

on feb. 14th (Valentine’s Day) we will host another 2 tomaszow artists and their works in an exhibition called “he and she”.

we are continuing with our series on money called “crisis! – biblical view on finances”. today we focused on Flp. 4:10-13; 19 and talked about the consequences of moving into the reality of being STEWARDS, not OWNERS of all we have. we talked about 3 things that can be known about our God from the Scriptures regarding this new reality:

– God is in control of every – even the hardest – situation in your life

– God expects you to live within your means

– God will satisfy all of our needs, but not wants

the most practical way to take a step into this reality is thru making a commitment to tithing when we give God the control over our lives and finances..

it is as if we let God be who He says He is… and come true in our lives.. big time..

we had 76 people in attendance.

last sunday we started our new series on money called: ‘crisis! – biblical view on the money’. we talked about changing your perspective on things from being AN OWNER to being A STEWARD / MANAGER. there is a lot of freedom in releasing everything you have (your money, your possessions, your family, your job, your life..) into the hands of the One who is the ultimate Maker and Owner of things (Psalm 24).

we had 79 people in attendance with 63 adults and 16 children.
